Her hatred is likely even more exacerbated after being trapped in the Void for aeons, and after seeing what has become of her progeny–the Nephalem, who were eventually diluted into humanity–in her absence. While we don’t know exactly how the plot of Diablo 4 will play out, I imagine that Lilith’s hatred for Heaven and Hell will be at the core of the decisions she makes. Murder is evil, sure, but what about when you are killing your captor? Clearly, Lilith thinks this particular killing is just, and you can kind of see where she’s coming from.
If you don't fall in line, you can be imprisoned, burned at the stake, or exiled. In the ‘civilized’ world of Diablo, mankind is not allowed to simply live outside of the rules or influence of the church, or choose their own path. Although we have thus far only seen this take the form of her provoking rural church-goers to murdering a priest, the Church aren't exactly the good guys here, having committed all kinds of atrocities against mankind, all under the guise of doing Heaven’s work (not to mention his whole rhetoric was the damning, shame-inducing schpiel we’d expect to hear from the most zealous of Catholic priests). Like any mother, she loves her children and just wants the best for them (or at least that's the cunning yarn she spins). As well as being the daughter of the demon Mephisto, Lilith is a distant ancestor of humanity (and thus known in human legends as the ‘First Mother’), which gives her a unique motivation for involving herself with them.
